Outburn - Review (Democracy is Dead)
March Issue 32
Hardcore with flavor: Dead By Wednesday isn't an easy to categorize act. On the surface they're a hardcore band using metal to accentuate the heavy breakdowns and thrash driven riffs that will have heads banging and pits swirling. Underneath is a passionate message of political liberalism and a disillusioned view of world politics. The vocals are the glue that holds it all together and the most interesting aspect of Dead By Wednesday. With the traditional delivery of hardcore vocals an afterthought, the unique combo of David and Ceschi Ramos gives the listener a sevenfold vocal approach that ranges from reggae, to rap, to raspy shouts, hardcore sing-alongs, melodic choruses, scats, spoken word, and anything else you can thrown into the mix.

Metal Edge Magazine - Review (Democracy is Dead)
June 2006
Formed by ex-Gargantua Soul drummer Opus, these New Englanders bring the energy level to 11 with their unique fusion of metal, punk, and hardcore. This is the first release on Opus' new subsidiary of Jamey Jasta's Stillborn Records, Mindsnap Music. DBW has opened tours for Scum of the Earth, Mushroomhead, and Gizmachi. The various influences and melding of styles are apparent and welcome as something different in this age of generic rock. It used to be a stigma to combine hip hop and hard rock stylings, yet DBW effectively does it, and the listener can catch right on to the songs and start singing along off the bat. Politically charged lyrics infuse the music, making it even more in your face. Can easily open for the next Body Count tour!

Democracy is Dead - CD Review
DEAD BY WEDNESDAY is a band of halves. Half the band originally lived in California. The other half of the band is from Connecticut. Half the band comes from a rap and hip hop background. The other half of the band comes from an 80s hardcore and thrash background. Half the band is related; the other half of the band is not.

Dead By Wednesday
Will we Be?
"...There's something left to do, but the world already ended. The apocolypse already happened, and we'll be dead by Wednesday."
-"Dead By Wednesday"
Family. In this misguided millennium of red-state dominance, you'd think the concept would carry a bit more weight. But it doesn't. More and more parents need to work longer and harder hours to support their families, while more and more government officials get fatter and fatter, helping the economy more be hiring people to clean their houses, cars and criminal records, than affecting a change through legislation and reform... |

Dead By Wednesday
With creative influence ranging from Pantera to System of the Down to The Dead Kennedys, Dead by Wednesday uses impressive creative license to create a smoldering view of our current "humanity". With mind jarring tracks like "Democracy is Dead", "Over the Edge", and "Refuse to Suffer", DBW delivers scathing social commentary through brothers David and Ceschi (CHESS-key) Ramos. Their dual vocal attack is reminiscent of Slipknot and at it's best when they stay close to their thrash-metal roots. There is an amazing depth to each track, layers beneath layers (my compliments to Joetown Studios). DBW pushes the creative envelope of Hard-core, and I like what I hear. You will to. Dead By Wednesday - Democracy is Dead
"mixes Buckethead, Primus, System of a Down, To My Surprise, Ill Nino, and probably another ten bands that I'm not recalling at the current moment. The density of this first track is beyond comparison; any one given second has a Snow-speed vocals mixed with "Birthing" (Samhain)-like guitar lines in front of authoritative drums and a chunky bass that hides amongst the lowest depths of the trrack. |

Dead By Wednesday
Everything about the songs of Dead By Wednesday is hard - from the band's militant political stance, to their frenetic hardcore/thrash musical attack, to the jackhammering rapping style of sibling vocalists David and Ceschi Ramos. The hardest thing, though, is ignoring this six-piece New Haven-based outfit; when a band is as radical, as aggressive, and as tenaciously self-promoting as these guys are, love them or hate them you have to take notice.

Dead By Wednesday plays 'psycho poetry'
Dead By Wednesday emerged from the ashes of former east-coast underground aristocrats, Gargantua Soul. A quintet boasting two former members of G-Soul, the band has a sound completely contrary to that of their predecessors. In the absence of the politically active, hip-hop driven group Rage Against The Machine, Dead By Wednesday is poised to fill a void with its aggressive lyrical and musical stylings.

Reviving Rap Metal?
Dead By Wednesday at the Webster, and a little secret in Canton Remember back when the words "rap metal" didn't make you cringe? When bands like Downset and Candiria managed to rap over metal riffs without sounding wack? When Rage Against the Machine would transcend all their glitz for a split second and say something that made you nod?
